Most of WinAmp plug-ins are used for extra visual effects. These are the "Visualization" plug-ins. There are some others change how the sound hears, the "Sound Processing" or "DSP" plug-ins. Finally there are the "General purpose" plug-ins that usually change how your WinAmp is controlled. In this page I am using another category, the "Lyrics" plug-ins. Although it is not a new category and all the other sites put them in the visualization plug-ins, I like to put them separately because lyrics isn't exactly a visual effect.

Here is a brief description of the plug-ins types. Follow the links to go each page.

	VISUALIZATION PLUG-INS
	In-Window plug-ins They are using WinAmp's main window. Either they replace the standard effects, or they are using the whole WinAmp window Attached Window plug-ins The visual effects are displayed in an extra window attached to WinAmp Separate Window plug-ins They are using a different window, not attached to WinAmp 3D plug-ins Making 3D effects. They are using more CPU resources Full Screen plug-ins They are using the entire screen when you are playing an mp3. They are nice if you are playing from a playlist and not using the rest of your computer 3Dfx plug-ins You need to have a 3Dfx video card to run them (Not Ready yet)
	OTHER PLUG-INS
	LYRICS PLUG-INS	Usually use an extra window to display lyrics while you are playing an mp3. You can write your own lyrics or find them ready from the lyrics server at from Lyrics Server.
	SOUND PROCESSING or DSP PLUG-INS.	With them you can change how your mp3 sounds
	GENERAL PURPOSE PLUG-INS	They perform some other functions
